Welcome to Computational Mechanics and Scientific Artificial Intelligence Lab (CoMSAIL) at Cornell University!
Led by Prof. Jian-Xun Wang, CoMSAIL is at the forefront of advancing the integration of computational mechanics with cutting-edge scientific artificial intelligence. Our research bridges physics-based modeling and data-driven approaches to address complex, multiscale problems across fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, heat transfer, and beyond.
At CoMSAIL, we tackle challenges in AI4Science, scientific machine learning, data assimilation, uncertainty quantification, Bayesian inference, and computational physics (turbulence, biomechanics, fluid-structure interaction, heat transfer, manufacturing etc.) with the goal of transforming the way we understand and predict complex physical systems. Our work focuses on developing innovative methodologies—such as differentiable programming, hybrid AI-physics modeling, generative modeling, Bayesian learning, data assimilation, etc. —to drive innovation and discoveries in computational science and engineering.
We are passionate about training the next generation of researchers and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Whether you’re a prospective student, collaborator, or industry partner, we invite you to explore our cutting-edge projects and join us in pushing the boundaries of computational mechanics and AI-driven scientific discovery.
